12 Serene Flat With a Terrace and a Minimal Touch

The clients – a couple with two children – wanted to give great prominence to the terrace, turning it into a space to relax, read outdoors or enjoy lunch and dinner in the company of their loved ones. Living in a house with a terrace in Madrid is a real luxury. Well, actually, it is a privilege in any city, but in the capital it is often sunny, and that makes the terraces in highly sought after spaces both in summer and winter (a blanket on top, a good coffee and goodbye to the cold).

The house that we show you today is located in the southern area of ​​Retiro, in an urbanization projected by Fernández de la Hoz with a very modern and unique building. In it, the houses stand out for the large windows and the aluminum sheets that reflect the light from all corners.

The owners – a couple with two children – wanted to give great prominence to the terrace, making it a perfect space to relax, read outdoors or enjoy lunch and dinner in the company of their loved ones. In addition, they wanted the house to be comfortable, warm and elegant, decorated with design pieces, following the line marked by the urbanization.

1- WITH HARDLY ANY CHANGES IN THE DISTRIBUTION

Regarding the distribution, the only area that was modified was the hall, eliminating the doors and access to the kitchen and installing a sliding iron door to give the entrance more space and light.

In the living room, the interior designer arranged a large Natuzzi sofa in very comfortable gray leather and a Lago sideboard, in oak and marble, flanked by loudspeakers from the new Bangs & Olufsen collection.

In the dining room, the chairs that the clients had were used, but giving them a new look , brushing the wood and with a new upholstery by Pepe Peñalver with geometric motifs in the same range of colors as the paintings.

6- A MODERN TERRACE READY FOR ENJOYMENT

To transform the terrace into the dreamed outdoor space , pleasant textures, rugs, cheerful tones and white as a conductive element were sought. Furniture such as the Bivaq tables, the Isimar chairs, the Gabar sofa and the Teklassic armchair stand out, as well as the combination of cushions with geometric shapes and blue and mustard as protagonists.

The master bedroom is dominated by an original Casamance wallpaper. In turn, the Lago firm headboard, made of solid oak, accompanies this modern bed that seems to float in the air.

The children’s rooms were made with custom-made furniture to optimize the work and rest space, and a wallpaper was chosen for each one in the tones and colors that they most wanted.

The little inhabitant of this bedroom seems to be passionate about boats, will he dream of becoming a sailor one day? It seems!

12- Through the wallpaper with botanical motifs, this bathroom transports us to a jungle environment

As you can see, a good use of wallpaper and a wise selection of furniture, accompanied by a matching color range, can work miracles in the interior design of any home.
